Symfony Day Cologne 2011
Just like the previous years, Cologne will be the stage for the Symfony Day conference again in October. Symfony developers, enthousiasts, advocates and core team members will travel to Germany for a day of symfony and Symfony2. But there are some changes for this year's edition.
Call for papers
The first change is the call for papers. Where in previous years, speakers were simply invited to present at Symfony Day, this year the conference organizers are opening up for your ideas! If you have a topic you are passionate about, then don't hesitate to submit it to the call for papers. If you are accepted, the organization will pay for your trip, hotel nights and access to the conference. So this is your chance to step up and tell the world about your favorite topic. And while Symfony2 is obviously hot, there is definitely no limitation to that. If you have an interesting symfony 1 topic you want to share, please do submit that instead.
The second change is training. In previous years, there was a full-day symfony workshop that was running parallel to the main conference track. This year, however, there is a seperate workshop day on the day before the conference. On this day, there will be three workshops running in parallel to eachother. Two of the trainers are already known (Ryan Weaver and Jordi Boggiano), so you will be trained by the experts on the topic.
Some things are the same
Of course, not everything changed. You can be sure that the conference will be a big success and it will be both educating and fun. The organizer is still the same, German web agency Interlutions is still responsible for organizing the event. Ticket price is still quite fair with 89 euro in the Early Bird and 129 euro after that. And the location is also the same as last year, the Komed in Cologne.
NOTE Are you organizing a symfony-related event? Feel free to contact our Community Manager Stefan Koopmanschap (stefan.koopmanschap - at - symfony-project - dot - com) so we can give it some attention here on our blog.
