About Ryan
Since joining the Symfony community in November 2007, shortly after the release of Symfony 1.0, Ryan has become a familiar face (and voice) through SymfonyCasts, the official Symfony tutorial site. He's also a member of the Symfony Core Team and a regular contributor.
Beyond being the visionary behind numerous initiatives like Symfony UX, the Maker Bundle, Webpack Encore, and the Symfony Demo, Ryan has significantly contributed to the Symfony Docs, including the Docs Builder used for compiling Symfony documentation. He's also the author of the first blog talking about Symfony.
Ryan's contributions extend to delivering engaging and insightful talks at Symfony conferences (you can watch many of them in the Replay section of your Symfony Conferences account). Above all, Ryan is known for his kindness and eagerness to support fellow community members.
Now, Ryan needs us. If you are in a position to, please donate today: Ryan's GoFundMe Donations Page.

Oh man... All the prayers for you guys 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think this IS the main point about Ryan. There's few people like him in the community But almost none at his level.
This guy is super AWESOME! Very sad to hear this. Sending love and donation as well.
Very sad news. Ryan is one of my open-source heroes!
Such a sad news, donation done and lot of prayers for you and your family. You are a mentor for all Symfony developer !
Thank you
I've learned a lot from him through SymfonyCasts. He is an incredibly awesome person. I hope and pray for him to recover as soon as possible. 🙏🙏
I pray today that you'd be healed in Jesus Name. Amen.
Heartbreaking news. Ryan is such an awesome person. May the force be with him and his familly. Sending plenty of love and full of hope to seeing him kicking some butt for more years
Just want to say that the knowledge Ryan has shared and his teaching style have significantly improved my understanding of a tool I use almost every day in my work. It's not at all an exaggeration to say that he's improved my life directly by providing opportunities in my work life that I might not have had without that knowledge. Thank you!
I grew up listening to your voice in Symfony I wrote to you not to forget about rest, but I didn't know if it was something more serious. Please keep your life, desire it. This is what keeps us all in existence. And I think, you do it. I support you, and I think, like probably everyone else, I want this to continue.
Ryan, not now, please! We still need you. The best teacher I've ever known in the world of Symfony and PHP. I met you too late when Symfony was at version 4.0, but since then I've been keeping a close eye on you, thanks to SymfonyCasts. Back home, when we meet a trainer of your calibre, we call him the "Great Teacher" 🙏🏽. May the strength and courage of the Great Lion be with you and your family.
No no and no to this plundering disease!!!
Sending you fast healing thoughts Ryan! Sorry to hear that.
I watched a documentary about a doctor who would not call it uncurable. His name is Dr. Burzynski and the movie is called Cancer is Big Business.
Here's to your healthy mind, body and spirit brother!
Get well soon brother, All the prayers for you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Keep fighting, man! When I think about the next Symfony tutorial, I immediately hear your voice in my head.
Very sad news, hope you feel better soon Ryan
Ryan is the main reason I understand Symfony . Wish you all the best to you and your family

This is so sad :(
it's beyond sad!
I've literally spent days with Ryan over Symfony casts. Wish you the best! 🙏🏻
As many others in the Symfony ecosystem I've learnt a lot from Ryan's tutorials. He has a very unique teaching talent and all of his tutorials are of exceptional quality. Let's help Ryan and his Family get through this.
Can the donation method support WeChat Pay and Alipay?
🙏🙏🙏 may god give you strength!
That's really bad news. I wish Ryan and his whole family a lot of strength. Don't stop fighting, man. Ryan's videos are absolutely amazing and have taught me a lot!
That has absolutely got me into tears. This guy has been my source of inspiration and motivation ever since I started writing PHP code 15 years ago. Stay strong Ryan. And I'll def. continue as a subscriber for SFCasts. Please get well.
This is devastating. I met Ryan at SymfoinyCon and I went through so much of his SymfonyCasts tutorials. His contributions to the community are immense. I wish Ryan and his family all the best.
Really shocking and sad news. I've learned a great deal of Symfony by watching his SymfonyCasts videos, which are for me, the best source of reference because of his indisputable deep knowledge and for the ease with which he makes himself understood in a very friendly way. It would be very hard to see him go, but I pray that that does not happen and hope he lives many many more years. God bless him for all his teaching work and kindness.
I'm 38 and when I grow up I want to be like you Ryan. God bless you!
