Symfony was the backend framework with the most contributors in 2019
January 7, 2020 • Published by Javier Eguiluz
2019 was the best year in Symfony history (read our 2019 review). We celebrated more conferences than ever, we had more contributions than ever, Symfony was downloaded more than ever, etc.
Here's another incredible milestone achieved by Symfony during the past year: according to this independent report, in 2019, Symfony had more contributors than any other backend framework, surpassing not only all PHP frameworks, but all backend frameworks of all technologies:
The report only takes into account the commits of the master branch and it excludes merge commits. Besides, while some frameworks use the same repository for code and docs, Symfony has a different repository for the docs (and those contributions are excluded from the report).
Thank You
Thanks for making us the biggest backend framework by number of contributors. And thanks to every single person in the Symfony community, no matter if you contribute code or not.
Only a few days of 2020 have gone and we're already excited by everything we can achieve this year. Stay tuned because 2020 will also mark Symfony's 15th anniversary.
Help the Symfony project!
As with any Open-Source project, contributing code or documentation is the most common way to help, but we also have a wide range of sponsoring opportunities.

Very easy to use thanks to the doc and the efforts of the various contributors.
