A weekly summary of everything that happened around Symfony development.

Symfony development returned this week to its usual frenetic activity with tons of important fixes and additions. Firstly, symfony 1.3 unveiled a brand-new email support based on SwiftMailer 4. Secondly, a major performance improvement was introduced in the routing system. Lastly, both Doctrine and Propel showed an intense activity, symfony 1.0.21 was released and YAML component started support for the 1.2 YAML specification.

Despite lack of development activity, it was a busy week for symfony. Firstly, symfony day 09 event took place in Germany with great success. Meanwhile, symfony drew lot of attention at the PHP Conference in Japan, greatly increasing symfony coverage in the japanese blogosphere.

This week symfony welcomed a new member for its core team. Besides, symfony project set up repository mirrors for the most important external libraries. In addition, another milestone was achieved with the 700th published plugin.

Calm week for symfony core development, mostly focused on lime 2.0 tool. Meanwhile, plugins showed an intense development activity with hundreds of changesets and more than 27 updated plugins.

Symfony popularity continued growing this week as demonstrated by the five new symfony bloggers and the seven new plugins published. Doctrine integration also showed a remarkable activity, including a new combo build task that merges and deprecates six tasks.

Symfony project introduced this week its new community manager and detailed its future symfony 1.3 and 1.4 releases. In addition, symfony marketplace expanded with new developers available to hire and new symfony job postings.

Symfony deprecated this week several helpers, settings and classes in the 1.3 branch. All these features will be removed in symfony 1.4 and are explained in the new deprecation guide

This week, another symfony event was announced and the videos of the last symfony conference were published. In addition, dependency injection component and lime 2.0 tool were updated.
July 26, 2009 #A week of symfony
This week, the symfony reference guide was published, adding yet another useful resource to the vast symfony library. Meanwhile, 15 new plugins were introduced and symfony 1.2.8 version was released.
July 19, 2009 #A week of symfony
Symfony project showed an incredible activity during this week: more than 220 changesets commited, 42 bugs fixed, 1.1.8 and 1.1.9 versions released, tons of fixes and improvements for Doctrine plugin and tens of documentation fixes and edits. Moreover, symfony project maturity achieved another milestone with its 20,000th changeset.
