A weekly summary of everything that happened around Symfony development.

This week, thanks to the low development activity, we enabled the usage of the PHP short array notation on Symfony code. In the coming weeks we'll update all our code at once to minimize merge conflicts. Meanwhile, the community proposed some Security-related improvements about Remember me config and IS_AUTHENTICATED_* attributes.

This week, the upcoming Symfony 4.3 version added a new isFormValid() shortcut for controllers, introduced a new theme option for dump() contents and simplified form theming with a new block_prefix form field option.

The last week of 2018 showed a low development activity. The upcoming Symfony 4.3 added a new option to force adding the trailing route parameters and there was a new proposal to add configurable argument value resolvers.

This week, the upcoming Symfony 4.3 version improved debug:autowiring to make it work without PHPdoc reflection and continued adding links in the console to improve the developer experience. In addition, Symfony explained its business model for the next year and it announced the workshops of the first 2019 conferences in Lille and Paris.

This week Symfony announced that there will be nine official Symfony conferences in 2019 in eight countries and three continents. Meanwhile, the work on the upcoming Symfony 4.3 started with the addition of new features like hyperlinks support in the console.

This week, 2.7.50, 2.8.49, 3.4.20, 4.0.15, 4.1.9 and 4.2.1 were published as maintenance and security releases. In addition, the SymfonyCon Lisbon 2018 conference gathered hundreds of Symfony community members from all around the world.

This week, Symfony 2.8.48 (the last one in the 2.x branch), 3.4.19 and 4.1.8 maintenance versions were released. In addition, the first stable version of Symfony 4.2.0 was published. Meanwhile, SymfonyCloud was unveiled as a fully-managed platform created for Symfony developers. SymfonyCloud will be fully introduced next week, during the SymfonyCon Lisbon 2018 conference.
December 2, 2018 #A week of symfony
This week Symfony focused on fixing the last issues found in the upcoming Symfony 4.2 version, which will be released in two weeks. We also improved the way to handle .env files in Symfony apps. Lastly, we announced discounts to save up to 30% in some Symfony services and a new SymfonyLive conference in Lille (France) in 2019.
November 25, 2018 #A week of symfony
This week, the second beta of Symfony 4.2 was published in preparation for its final release in two weeks. In order to simplify the maintenance of Symfony apps, we undeprecated the single-colon controller notation and also reverted the deprecation of --env and --no-debug console options.
November 18, 2018 #A week of symfony
This week, the upcoming Symfony 4.2 version added the loadEnv() method to replace the newly introduced loadForEnv() method. In addition a new Application::bootstrapEnv() method was introduced to define APP_ENV/APP_DEBUG from argv. Finally, the SymfonyCon Lisbon 2018 conference announced a scholarship program and a fundraising campaign.
