A weekly summary of everything that happened around Symfony development.

This week, Symfony started the stabilization phase of the upcoming 2.8/3.0 versions release: AbstractVoter was simplified, Console added support for column styles, SecureRandom class was deprecated in favor of the PHP7 random_bytes() function and lots of tests were simplified thanks to the @requires annotation.
October 11, 2015 #A week of symfony
This week, Symfony 2.8 and 3.0 achieved their "feature freeze" milestone, meaning that no new feature will be added until their release on November 2015. That's why the development activity on Symfony 2.8 was astonishing during this week: a new LDAP component was added, DependencyInjection gained autowiring capabilities, all the command consoles were redesigned, DomCrawler and CssSelector components were heavily refactored, etc. Meanwhile, Symfony 3.0 continued removing massive chunks of deprecated code.

This week, Symfony 2.3.33 and Symfony 2.7.5 maintenance versions were released. In addition, two new Symfony components were created: Guard and PropertyInfo. Lastly, a lot of features were deprecated in preparation for the imminent "feature freeze" period.

This week Symfony 2.8 finally introduced its redesigned profiler. In addition, the Finder component was vastly simplified and optimized, even for Symfony 2.3 applications. Lastly, the Symfony Live London 2015 conference was hold with great success.

This week, Symfony 2.7.4 maintenance version was released. In addition, Silex 1.3.3 was released to add compatibility with Symfony versions from 2.3 to 3.0. Lastly, Twig showed an impressive development activity and introduced features such as inlining the original source code in the compiled templates.
September 13, 2015 #A week of symfony
This week, Symfony 2.3.32 maintenance version was released. Meanwhile, a lot of deprecations were removed in the master branch and the profiler was updated to group related deprecation messages. Lastly, Twig, Silex and Swiftmailer projects showed a nice development activity, including new features such as adding Traversable support for replace, merge and sort Twig filters.
September 6, 2015 #A week of symfony
This week, Symfony started performing continuous integration for Windows systems. This resulted in lots of fixes for Windows tests, specially those related to internationalization. Meanwhile, Translation component made the "target" node optional in XLIFF files.

This week, development activity focused on making Symfony compatible both with Twig 1.x and 2.x (see commit). Twig itself showed and impressive activity deprecating features and adding a new collector to get all deprecation notices. Meanwhile, Silex added a new service provider for the Symfony Asset Component and integrated the HTTP Foundation Twig extension.

This week, Symfony announced full PHP7 compatibility for all its maintained branches. In addition, Twig published its 1.20.0 security release and the work to make Symfony compatible with both Twig 1.x and 2.x versions was almost completed.

This week, Symfony 2.8 added a way to define the priority of service decorators. Meanwhile, Debug component improved DebugClassLoader performance significantly on Mac OS X. Lastly, the SymfonyCon Paris 2015 conference announced its full schedule.
